Holm Oak Vineyards (is) operated by Rebecca Wilson as winemaker, and husband Tim Duffy as viticulturist. They are in demand as contract winemakers and have a wide range of varieties planted, making Holm Oak Vineyards an exciting and often surprising place to visit. The cellar door has recently been revamped, to become even more welcoming. they have an intriguing Arneis, a better Riesling, and without meaning to sound like the proverbial broken record, a terrific pinot noir. 2009 Pinot Noir Rebecca Wilson and Tim Duffy are doing some exciting things here with emerging varieties but they have not neglected the 'classics'. From 1983 plantings, this is a bright and flavorsome Pinot noir with cherry pit notes. There is good acidity, fine tannins and lots of length. Made by wild ferment and 20 per cent whole bunch. they also have a Reserve coming out towards the end od 2012' which will be well worth chasing.
