2010 Riesling
Winemaking Notes
The 2010 vintage was a mild year, with quite warm days, and fairly humid nights resulting in an earlier harvest date than in previous years. Whilst the humid conditions resulted in the development of some botrytis we hand picked very high quality fruit in good condition. The fruit was picked between 11 and 12 Be to enable the production of a citrus and minerally style Riesling with the characteristic cool climate floral characters also evident.
The fruit was fermented at low temperatures and with one aromatic and one neutral yeast strain to preserve and enhance the natural fruit characters of the wine. Following fermentation the wine was stabilised and bottled under screw cap to ensure maximum freshness.
Tasting Notes
The 2010 Riesling is a vibrant and aromatic wine. The nose displays aromas of lime leaf and jasmine with some spiced apple characters, whilst the palate shows mineral characteristics with fantastic fruit purity and steely acidity.
